You are visiting the website of the Sacramento Suburban Water District (the “District”). The District strictly controls this website and it is not in any way intended to create a public or open forum. Information presented on this website is collected, maintained, and provided as a public service for the convenience of the user. While every effort is made to keep such information accurate and current, the District does not certify the accuracy, adequacy, timeliness or authenticity of any information that is provided on this website. Under no circumstances will the District be liable for any actions taken or omissions made from reliance on any information contained herein from whatever source nor will the District be liable for any other consequences from any such reliance. Please keep in mind that no use of or data transmission over the Internet or any wireless network can be guaranteed as secure. As a result, the District cannot guarantee the security of any information to that you transmit using our website and you transmit any such information at your own risk.

Conditions of Use

By visiting the District’s website, users agree that they will not use the site for any unlawful activity, or use it in any way that would violate the terms and conditions of use. Users also agree to the terms contained in this Internet Terms of Use Policy as a condition of using the District’s website. Any use of the website shall comply with all District and California laws, ordinances, regulations, and policies as well as with all applicable federal laws and regulations. Unauthorized attempts to upload information or change information on this website are strictly prohibited and may be punishable under state law and federal statutes including the Computer Fraud and Abuse Act of 1986 and the National Information Infrastructure Protection Act. We monitor network traffic to identify unauthorized attempts to upload or change information or to otherwise cause damage to the District’s website. Anyone using this website expressly consents to such monitoring.

The District’s website contains links to local, state and federal government agencies and to other, non-government websites. The District, in its sole discretion, shall determine whether a link to an external website is suitable for the District’s purposes or for the specific informational purposes of this website. In establishing and maintaining its official website, the District does not intend to create any public forum or other means for public discourse. Rather, the sole and limited purpose of the permitted external links is to provide information about the District or to provide related services for the convenience of customers and visitors.

The District does not endorse or provide preferential treatment to any third party websites or associated organizations or persons, nor is the District responsible for the content or operation of any third party website that may be accessed from this website. The user acknowledges and agrees that the District is not liable in any way for the content, accuracy, reliability, safety, viewpoints, policies, or products provided by these external resources.

It is the District’s policy to limit external links to the following entities and organizations: (1) other governmental agencies; (2) entities with which the District has an existing formal, contractual relationship; and (3) commercial entities that provide information or services that enhance the usability of the District’s website for customers and visitors. In addition, the District reserves the right, at any time and without notice, to: (1) remove or deny a link that does not meet the criteria set forth in this policy; (2) deny or discontinue an external link at any time if that external website provides or promotes false, slanderous, illegal, infringing or incorrect information or the external website contains viruses, worms or other cyber security threats; (3) remove any external link if the nature of the organization to which the link relates no longer complies with the District’s external link policy; and d) remove a link or revise this policy without prior notice when the District considers such revision to be in its best interests.

Privacy Policy

We will collect no personal information about you when you visit our website unless you choose to provide that information to us voluntarily. However, by using the District’s website and providing personal information, you give your consent to the District’s collection of your personal information as described herein. If you do not consent to the collection, use or disclosure of any personal data, please do not provide any personal information. We do not give, share, sell, or transfer any personal information to a third party, unless we are legally required to do so or if it is necessary to provide requested services to a customer or visitor.

The District has contracted with Element Payment Services and Wells Fargo Bank to process electronic card payments on behalf of the District. The District, Element Payment Services and Wells Fargo Bank will not sell, purchase, provide, or otherwise disclose any customer account information, transaction information, or other personal information to any third party.

The District may contract with a third party fraud service provider to process transactions. As part of this processing, the transaction data may be retained for statistical analysis, and elements from fraudulent transactions may be captured, retained, and shared with others to help improve the fraud prevention services and to prevent further fraud. In no event will the source of any such retained data be disclosed to a third party.

The District reserves the right to analyze user traffic patterns on our website from information that is automatically provided to us by your browser when you visit our site. This information includes the IP address of your computer or network, the date, time, and page you visited on our site, your browser and operating system, and the referring page (the last web page you visited before clicking on a link to our site). We use the aggregated information from all of our visitors to measure server performance and improve the content of our site. We also track the keywords that are entered into our search engine service to measure interest in specific topics, but we do not track which terms a particular user enters.

“Cookies” are text files created by your browser and stored on your system to aid in customizing your browsing experience. The District does not currently use cookies on its website, but we reserve the right to do so in the future if necessary (primarily to provide e-government services).

The District uses linking and searching capabilities to navigate publicly available information from many websites that are not part of our website. The privacy policies and procedures described here will most likely not apply to those external sites. We suggest contacting these sites directly if you want information on their data collection and distribution policies.
