The Sacramento Regional Water Authority has produced a series of informational videos on its Be Water Smart website about ways to have a healthier lawn, while using up to 30% less water.  Many older sprinkler types that use a fan type spray pattern lose water to wind drift and are not as efficient has newer "rotary" models.  Unlike older sprinklers, rotary sprinklers deliver streams of water at a slower rate which is less susceptible to wind drift and makes it easier for the soil to absorb the water which will reduce water lost to evaporation and run off.

Here are some tips from Be Water Smart about replacing older sprinklers with high-efficiency rotary sprinklers.

Installing rotary nozzles is as easy as removing and replacing a bottle cap! Learn how to install rotary sprinklers and other tips about your sprinklers by viewing the videos linked below.
