The project consists of the installation of new water distribution main pipeline in public streets to replace existing backyard water mains that have outlived their useful life.

Major project facts:

• 4,600 feet of 8-, and 12-inch diameter pipe is to be installed
• 16 fire hydrants will be upgraded.
• 33 new metered services will be installed; and 34 meters will be reconnected.
• The construction cost is estimated to be $1.6 million.

Schedule:

• The project will begin in January 2020 and is expected to be completed in the summer of 2020.
• Final street restoration is anticipated in the summer of 2020 (warmer temperatures are necessary for this type of work).

Billing:

• Flat rate billing will remain in effect until November 2021 when it will convert to meter rate billing.
• Shortly after your meter is installed, your water bill will include new informational items:
  • A consumption graph showing monthly usage.
  • Meter rate billing amount.
• You may opt to start meter rate billing early.  If so, please contact the Customer Service Department at 916.972.7171 or email feedback@sswd.org.
